British Sign Language Interpreter (TSLI)

About Francesca

Francesca BSL is led by Francesca, a Trainee British Sign Language Interpreter (TSLI), qualified teacher (PGCE), and advocate for accessibility and inclusion.

Francesca is a Trainee British Sign Language Interpreter (TSLI) based in the midlands, currently completing her MA in Interpreting at the University of Wolverhampton. She holds a First Class BA (Hons) in Educational Studies and is a qualified teacher (PGCE).

Francesca began learning BSL after developing a deep appreciation for the language and its richness. What started as a love of the language grew into a commitment to accessibility and inclusion. She chose to train as an interpreter because she wanted to play an active role in improving communication access between Deaf and hearing people.

Alongside her interpreter training, Francesca previously worked as a Communication Support Worker (CSW) within educational settings, gaining valuable experience supporting Deaf students and understanding the importance of preparation, trust and culturally respectful practice.

Francesca believes communication access is about more than information — it is about belonging, participation and shared experience.

Alongside formal and professional settings, she has a particular interest in arts, cultural and live performance environments, recognising that access to music, theatre and community life is just as important as access to education and essential services.

Outside of her studies and interpreting work, Francesca enjoys live music and cultural events — experiences that continue to inspire her commitment to making arts and performance accessible to Deaf audiences.
